Question RYZEN 5 1600 or RYZEN 5 2600 or i5 9400f

I'm getting RYZEN 1600 for Rs.11000; RYZEN 2600 for Rs.15000 and Core i5 9400f for Rs.12000.I will pair with GTX 1660 or Rx 580.Which cpu will be a good all-rounder??

For those prices I'd probably go with the 9400f. Assuming motherboard prices are comparable between Intel and AMD. Unless you think you may upgrade the CPU in the next couple years and would want to be able to do so without getting a new motherboard, in which case AMD will likely have a better upgrade path.

Why i5 9400f?

My brother just built a 9400f with a 2070 card. Pretty cheap build, around $1000 for everything and it runs good for the price. He gets 48-60fps in AC odyssey and 78-90 in bfv maxed out.

Runs better than my 6600k that’s OC and my 1070.

Is this just for gaming?

The 9400f outperforms the 2600 by a bit on average in games. Plus you can save a bit of money by only getting 2666 MHz RAM, whereas with Ryzen you need 3000-3200 MHz to get the best performance.

But one could argue the 1600/2600 options are a little more forward thinking, given they have 6 extra threads and a better upgrade path.

Why i5 9400f?

The ryzen is probably the better option because of the longer upgrade path, OC options and only around 3% worse in benchmarks and a bit cheaper. Generally, AMD boards are a bit cheaper but it all really depends.
If you live near a MicroCenter, get a 1600 because it’s only 80 dollars and you get 30 dollars off of the motherboard. (You May also be able to get a place like best buy to price match the 1600 to 80 bucks)
