Last month I decided to build a new pc with a Ryzen 5 1600, big upgrade from my i3 6100.
I kept seeing people able to get their chips up to 3.8-4.0mhz on the stock cooler, albeit with high temps. I was disappointed when I couldn't get mine stable above 3.7 with the cooler at max. Whatever, unlucky. But now a month in I'm noticing sporadic dips in my performance. I'll be in a match of Overwatch which has been no problem for me to run up until recently, (1080p low settings 85fps) when suddenly my frame rates are jumping around anywhere from 20-85. Every other game also has the same issue, consistent most of the time and then frame rate randomly fluctuates.
The rest of the PC is:
16 gb g.skill trident z @ 2933mhz
r9 380 4gb @ 1100mhz (couldn't afford a new card with the situation rn)
MSI b350m Bazooka motherboard
When I notice these dips in performance, the cpu usage isn't going up anymore than normal, and the gpu maintains 100% @1100. When i close out the game and run cinebench my scores range from 300-500, when normally scoring 1200+, which is what leads me to believe the cpu is the issue. Any suggestions on what I can do to remedy the issue?
