ryzen 5 1600 showing 3 cores and 6 logical cores

well its mainly the title but my bios says i have 6 cores active/ running and my mc.config is set to 6 cores. haven't done a fresh install of windows.

What does windows task manager show on the performance tab? Hopefully 12 boxes representing each logical core. May just be an issue with the tool you used to show the core count. If Windows is seeing 6 cores / 12 threads that is all that matters.

Then I would look into doing a fresh install. Was hoping that was just an old version of the tool but is windows is seeing only 6 threads then yeah its an issue. You may be able to get around it but honestly this wont be your only issue if this is occurring so a fresh install is recommended.

did end up doing a fresh install but lost a bunch of game saves so i might have to replay them all again

Just recently had this problem was driving me mad, turns out that it was just ryzen master it had cores disabled and so was restricting me to 3 cores 6 threads and a core frenquencey of 3.2 on a amd 1600

Do thos before you fresh install windoes
