[SOLVED] Ryzen 5 1600af bios update?

Hey guys, just bought a 1600af and i decided to buy this motherboard https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A320M-HDV R4.0/index.asp soooo my question is, it needs a bios update to work? cause i dont have an old ryzen to update it... if someone knows please tell me

If you haven't already bought the motherboard I would strongly recommend you buy a B450 board instead. This is a good budget mobo and should support the 1600AF out of the box

If you've already bought the A320 board the only way to find out if the BIOS is supported or not is to assemble the PC and see if you can get to the BIOS.

i haven't bought it yet, but since i'm not from the US (im from Argentina) the difference between a b450(287 usd) and a A320(92 usd) its huuuge. I simply can't afford it, i know its a low-end mobo but i wont do OC or anything. that's why idk if that mobo needs a bios update to work (or not)

How much does this cost in Argentina? Looks like there are several B450M mobos around 70-80$ in many websites and probably in stores.

Thats unfortunate. But again the only way to see if it will work is pu tthe CPU in the Mobo (along with a GPU) and see if it will boot. If it doesnt then you could try and borrow a CPU or take it to a PC repair shop.

AMD did offer "loaner" CPUs in order to update to Ryzen 2000 when it was released https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100 however Im not sure if it was available in your country or if they still offer Chips to update for Ryzen2000. You could contact them and see if it is possible.

well, is not that easy here, no joke when i say we have TONS of taxes for non-national stuff, + inflation (1 USD=136 ARS) + shipping. That's why a 70-80 mobo enters to the country with a value of 250-300. It's a shame.

That's really disappointing. Considering that even in a not-much-developed third world country like Bangladesh, I can most of the time convert the price from USD to BDT and add ~15-20% to that and actually get the present local market price.
Though availability is an issue here, the prices aren't too off.
