[SOLVED] Ryzen 5 2400g and GEFORCE 1660 unable to get the GPU to register

so i was running of just the Ryzen 5 2400g for about 8 months while i saved up for a GTX 1660 and when i have installed the new GPU i cannot get i to register as a display device or install any drivers for it.

I have tried a fresh install of windows and that did not help. i cleared the bios in case anything in that was causing it and i have had no luck.

MY PC: Ryzen 5 2400g overclocked to 3900mhz
16gb 3000mhz Corsair vengeance DDR4 ram
msi B450 tomahawk
AMD stock cooler
WD blue 1 TB hard drive
GTX 1660

any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes the monitor is connected to GPU

it is using the windows basic display adaptor according to device manager

so what error are you getting when you try to install the latest driver from nvidia website?

what power supply unit do you have in your system? Have you connected the 8 pin PCI-E power connector to the graphics card?

It fails when it gets to checking system compatibility and the error i get is

The DCH driver package is not compatible with the currently installed version of windows

it then tells me to select the "standard option" under "windows driver type" which i have done

i have a 500w power supply and i have connected the 8 pin connector yes
