[SOLVED] ryzen 5 2600 and rtx 2060 or i5 8600k and rtx 2080

Solution

You edited the post, it initially said the 8600K/2070.

Your words, not mine.

"ryzen 5 2600 and rtx 2060 or i5 8600k and rtx 2080"

The 8600K/2080 is a much better at least for gaming. If your doing streaming then the 2600 is the better choice due to the extra threads however what is confusing is that the 8600K is much more expensive then the Ryzen 2600 and the 2080 is much more expensive then the 2060.

I think you meant the 2600/2080 or 8600K/2060.

this is not helpful, i gave you 2 clear options and you still couldnt do it. if i were to get both it wouldnt fit into my budget, you have all the information you need.

if all you do is gaming then 8600K
if you do other stuff like editing something that could benefit from more threads then ryzen5 2600

GPU selection is based how deep your pockets can go. 2070 is better than 2060, and preforms accordingly with either of the CPUs.

It's blatantly obvious that the 8600k & RTX 2080 is going to perform better, so why bother asking? If you gave some scenario's as to what you plan to do with this build, maybe then we could help with some opinions.

I'd agree with WildCard999 on thinking about more appropriate combinations. And also with PdxPetmonster, as to what you really want to achieve.

Just on a sidenote, how on earth are they similarly priced? AN RTX2080 costs nearly the same as Both the 2600 and the RTX2060 combined. If you can get an 8600k thrown in there somehow that makes the options similarly priced. Please, tell me where! I wan't some of that.

Your almost comparing apples to oranges.

The 8600k/2080 combo will wipe the floor FPS wise at 1080p, and at most other resolutions However, the 2080 is massive overkill for 1080p even for a 144hz panel. So WildCards suggestion for the 2070 is a perfect solution, potentially saving some dollars.

PdxPetmonster is also bang on. Knowing exact usage scenarios and a budget, or parts you may have, could help you save money, and get the performance you are really looking for without burning cash.

I would stick with the current CPU because I think it can run just about any GPU out there.
