Ryzen 5 2600 around USD 134
Ryzen 5 3600 around USD 204

Between those 2, should i go with Ryzen 5 2600 or 3600? Is the price difference worth it? Thanks

The Ryzen 5 2600 is cheaper, due to that it's an older CPU, but is using the 12nm FinFET process, rather than the Ryzen 5 3600's 7nm FinFET process.
Basically it means that the 3600 gives from 10-20% better performance.
I would wait to buy it until Zen 3 hits the market to get it though, since it will decrease the cost.

It really depends on what you're trying to do with this system and what your overall budget is.

Well, i'm gaming too, but not really a priority. I have an RX 580 8GB. Planning to upgrade once the Nvidia RTX 3000 series prices calmed down or AMD BigNavi if they are good for the price. Would be nice if it won't bottleneck later.

Sry, i won't wait. I could just buy and maybe sell them if the zen 3 really worth it.

Well, in short, i just wondering which one of those 2 have the better price/preformance ratio. As always, thank you

If you have a 300 series chipset, you won't be able to use Zen 3.
But with what you said you wanted to use it with, go with the 2600.
I can grab an X570 for 2600 or i can grab an B550 for 3600. So zen 3 is still possible

Both CPU are in my budget. I just wondering which one have better price/performance ratio since if the 3600 performance gain is worth it, i might as well grab that one.

I won't really count on zen 3 though. As it seems the price across zen 3 will be increased + COVID which add a lot uncertainty (Price in my country might go up quite a bit). I might grab second hand zen 3 when zen 4 released or something like that.

So yeah, maybe in summary, is Ryzen 5 3600 performance advantage worth around USD70 price difference? Thanks

Probably not. Getting the x570 chipset allows for more features with a later upgrade.
Go with the 2600 and x570 board.
Well, let's just ignore the board and focus on the CPU. Since B550 already have all the features i need and X570 + 3600 is possible.

Is the Ryzen 5 3600 Performance gain really worth the USD70 price increase? Thanks
