Question ryzen 5 2600x 144hz

is r5 2600x good for 1440p 144hz on competitive games

Paired with fast RAM it’s good but a 9700k may give a few more frames. However the new 3000 series launching in a few weeks should close that gap.

If me I’d wait as it’s so close. The IPC and clockspeed boosts are looking significant and this should result in noticeably better FPS.

2600x is a perfectly fine cpu you really dont need to go any higher for 1440 gaming i personally have this cpu and i have had zero issues in any game i play. However the 3000 series is so close i would recommend waiting. The 2600x is a fine gaming cpu but why not get more for your money. Even if you went with the low end ryzen 5 3600 for 200 you would still be in great shape the new cpus have 7nm which in my opinion is worth the 3 week wait but deffinently not needed if its just for gaming.
