Hey Guys. So i was planning to buy ryzen 5 2600X and i am worried by the thought that it might bottleneck my gtx 960 or my gtx 960 might bottleneck it. And if they do, what is the loss in perfomance in games as big as witcher 3? Thankyou!
That CPU is perfect capable of running that video card, and a GPU doesn't bottleneck a CPU, but I got your question. And yes, if we compare CPU vs GPU, your CPU is more than capable of something more, an higher end card, like Vega 64 or 1080.
With your current card, you can expect to play medium-high settings in most titles.
One on my computer's with a Ryzen 3 1300x and Gtx 760 play nicely so i would imagine that a newer card would work fine with your Ryzen 5. The only thing I would be concerned about is your graphics memory. If you don't have the appropriate memory, you'll run into bottlenecks.
If you have a 2gb card, you should be able to run low-medium at 60fps and if it's a 4gb card, you can expect medium-high at 60fps and possibly ultra at 60 fps depending on the title.
