Hi all. I just got my new ryzen 5 3600 with ASUS X470 Strix-f gaming and Corsair DDR4 LPX 2x8gb 3200. *and I hooked up with my old 1060 6gb.

I installed everything correctly, and every fan and light come in but nothing shows up on screen. I took it to a local repair shop, and the owner says that I need a "newer version of the ram" because it is not compatible with 3600. Is that true? Or could it be any other problems?

I heard the Asus x470 needs BIOS update as well but there's no way for me to do that because I can't see anything.

Do you have a graphics card installed? If not, you better do that before you take it into a repair shop, as the Ryzen 5 3600 doesn't come with an onboard GPU as stated above. Hope this helps.

does any repair shop does that? because one I tried couldnt do it
I wouldn't step foot in that store ever again. This should have been extremely easy to diagnose and fix. Now that you know what you need to do I would just call around to some different shops and see if they can do it for you. I believe micro center will do this for you if you have one in your area. You could also try to find a cheap first or second gen CPU and use that to update the bios. You could either buy used and resell or buy new and return it. Just avoid the Athlons.

Thanks for answering. Do you think ryzen AM4 3 2200g will work? this is the cheapest one I could find in offline stores near me.

ASUS allows upgrading the bios without the cpu installed.

ASUS added that feature to most of their motherboards years ago. I think you need a thumb drive with the bios on it, inserted into a "special" (marked) usb plug on the io on the back of the motherboard. asus named the whole thing USB BIOS FLASHBACK

see if that feature is availible on your motherboard.

here is the ASUS guide on it.
