Hello folks,

Probably asked before, but would the Ryzen 3600 match well with an RTX 3070 (I ordered the Ryzen 3600 yesterday and I'm also waiting on shipment of the RTX 3070)?

I'm gaming on a 1440p monitor at 144Hz. I currently have a Ryzen 2600 clocked at 4 GHz (paired with a GTX 1070) and realize the Ryzen 3600 should at least provide better minimum frame rates. I ALMOST went with a 3700x. It also seems like the 5600x is in very short supply (and may require me to upgrade my MSI B450 Gaming Plus board).

Any thoughts or personal experiences are appreciated - thanks!

Solution
A 5600X would simply require a BIOS update to work on B450, which you could do with your existing 2600. The 3600 might not be up to par for a 3070, seeing as nobody would pair it with a 2080Ti, which is less powerful.

I believe I just solved my own dilemma; the Ryzen 5 3600 XT was on sale for virtually the same price as the 3600 ($310 CAD vs $275 CAD). I cancelled the 3600 and ordered the 3600XT.

Don't know how much of a difference that'll make, the X/XT variants are basically the same as an overclocked non-X version.

Thanks for your input. I should also mention that I was having ahard time pulling the trigger on the 5600 X where it is $450 CAD (not to mention lack of availability).
