Hey everyone,

I was wondering if I could run a monitor at 1440p 165hz on my ryzen 5 3600. I currently have a 1080p 60hz monitor and wanted to upgrade. Will my CPU be able to handle both monitors and will it be able to handle the upgraded monitor.

My current setup includes:
CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
GPU - MSI 2080 Super
RAM - 16gbs 3200

Solution
CPUs aren't responsible for handling monitors, this depends on your graphics card. The RTX 2080 will handle multiple monitors just fine.
CPU is irrelevant to what resolution your monitor can run at in this case since you are using a dgpu.

Your GPU can output to a 1440p 165hz monitor over DisplayPort 1.4, in addition to you current monitor.

If you want to know if your system can game at 1440p and reach 165hz, it depends.

How would I find out if I can game on this before I buy the monitor?
