Hello everyone, first of all my spec:
Mobo: Asus TUF GAMING X570-Plus (WIFI) - Bios Version 4408
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 - Palit Gamerock 10gb
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200Mhz (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) (using XMP i gets to 3200Mhz, if not it works at 2133mhz)
HDD: Samsung SSD 580 Evo 550gb (boot)
Western Digital HDD
Western Digital SN550 2gb NVME
PSU: MSI A850GF
My problem is or was the following.
Out of nowhere the pc stopped booting, i was getting a red qled meaning video so i though my gpu died, tried changing it for a 1080 i have lying around from another pc and it didnt boot same red light. I removed the cpu and tried and old Ryzen 7 2700x i had and the pc boots wihout problem with both GPU.
Tried puting the 5600x again and no dice, no boot, same red qled light, booted with the 2700x used it a bit and had no problem, no stability problems, nothing, i tried playing warzone 2.0 and FFXIV for a few hour without problem., then i decided to update to the lastest Bios Version and chipset and try again.
I removed the cmos battery just to be sure after updating the bios and replacing the CPU again. Surprise surprise it booted without problems, went and played a few games, restarted a few times and i had no problem. Tried using OCCT to test the psu and after 1 hour running i had 0 problems. No errors on memory test nothing, restarted and test the ram at 2133Mhz and using xmp profile and after a few hour i had no problem.
Turned off the pc and went to sleep, and today i had the same problem again, red qled and no boot, tried removing the cmos battery again just in case and nothing, replaced the 5600x again for the 2700x and it working fine, went back to the 5600x and nothing.
Should i assume the 5600x is dead? that it worked on last time before kicking the bucket. Bios is configured with optimized default, that means its using Performance boost, i did try disabling it after booting with the 2700x and testing again a didn't work.
I'll probably hand the 5600x to a friend so he can test if it works. Im just curious to what could be the cause for it to die.
