[SOLVED] Ryzen 5600 or i5 12400?

I can't decide between these two cpu's. I'm going to be running it with an Rx 6700 Xt Reference card. I'm also having trouble deciding on the motherboard as well. If anyone could help me out, I'd be very grateful. Thank you!

I like the 12400 because it comes with an igp.

The 12400 seems to have the small advantage in most gaming comparisons in 1080P or 1440P when each is given a 3080 Super, 3090,, etc...

With more mid-range GPUs, there will likely be quite little difference, if any...in which case going by whichever you can get a noticeably better deal on might be best. If total system cost were equal, and I had to choose one...I'd take the 12400.

Very similar buy whatever is cheaper. Amd boards often cheaper for what you get and can overclock on the B series.

If you buy from a single source like newegg or Amazon you'll get different prices, but overall, there's no real difference other than the igpu.

I really like the Alder Lake processors, so my vote would go there. The 5600X is a good processor, too, however.

Simply because it's an awesome board with good connectivity and VRMs, which would give you headroom for possible upgrades. The Asus board above is decent, but for the same price, go with the MSI honestly. Here is a test:

I have never heard of that. Looking around, it seems like those issues are from the start of the year? I would think they should be fixed by now. But maybe someone else know more. I personally use Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 RAM for my 12700k. Quite happy with it. There was an XMP issue at the start, now that you mention it, where it just wouldn't apply the setting after installing Windows anymore. It was solved easily enough by resetting to optimized standards, though, and has worked without a hitch ever since. I kinda blame Windows for that...

if price is similar, try it. You can set 3200 speed later if it's not working in 3600 for some reason and later on there should be an update id it's a known issue and not fixed yet. Again, I would think it should be fixed already.

I read that they locked VCCSA for non-k CPUs making it harder to achieve higher frequency on ram. Trying to build a new pc, don't want to be running into compatibility issues
