I have a custom built Desktop with the following specs:

Cpu- ryzen 7 1700

Motherboard- gigabyte ga-ax370-gaming 5rgb

Cooler- cooler master lite 120mm rgb

Ram- g skills 2×8 3000mhz

Storage- 250gb samsung evo 840 ssd
3tb Hitachi hdd

Psu-evga bronze 80 600W pay

You- gigabyte g1 GeForce gtx 1070 8gb

I want to maintain a minimum of 60fps on current and next gen games at ultra 1440p. I believe this will be difficult. What should be upgraded? The gpu or cpu? Or buy another 1070 gpu?

I think my cpu may bottleneck future games if I upgraded my gpu or doubled 1070. The motherboard may be good for a few years so it shouldnt be an issue. What's your opinion on my build?

The Ryzen 1700 is great. For ultra 1440p/60fps over time the higher you can afford, the better. Today well optimized games like DOOM or DICE's Battlefront/Battlefield you will get the desired but probably you'll need to lower your settings in one or two years, maybe noticeably if next-gen consoles let the developers push the engines.

Your Ryzen 7 should be more than good enough for at least another 3-4 years. At higher resolutions, more strain is put on your GPU so that's definitely something you'd want to upgrade for 1440p gaming at Ultra settings. I'd personally try and grab a 1080 or better on black friday :D
