Ryzen 7 1700 or 1700x

So looking for an nice ryzen CPU here,

The thing stuck my mind is that what is difference between r7 1700 and 1700x?? Only the clocks ..

So if I take a r7 1700 an over clock it to the same clock as of 1700x, will it match its performance??

Motherboard will be gigabyte gaming 5 x370, Is that good for gaming??

If it's just a gaming rig, I'd honestly suggest saving a few bucks and dumping that into an better gpu and going with Ryzen 5 or the 1700 if you are looking to match the 6700/7700's from intel the 1700x is a bit overkill especially on the wallet.. and if you go with a 1700 mind it 65w tdp jaystwocents did a video about it having I think it was a +20 degree offset so if you hit 65 with your overclock you are fine.

R5 1600/1600X would make more sense for gaming. Same gaming performance but leaves around $100 towards better GPU.

Yes, all Ryzen is the same CPU with different frequencies, and different number of cores used. The performance is the same at the same frequency for 1700, 1700x, and 1800x. 1600 and 1600x are the same as well. The none X versions come with coolers capable of a pretty decent overclock. But a $29 212 EVO will allow 3.9-4.1GHz depending on your luck.
