Ryzen 7 1800x for rendering?

Recently, I want to upgrade my cpu for a faster rendering on arnold renderer, I read about it, that the arnold renderer are cpu-based renderer, I wonder the 8 core of Ryzen 7 would preform better than the I7 8700k?
Cpu temperature is also a thing I concern.

Arnold is heavily threaded app, core count and HT will improve performance, so the 8 cores on Ryzen 7 1800x will have a lead over the 6 cores on i7 8700k .

Generally the R7-1700 will OC nicely to 1800X speeds on most X370 and B350 boards...and, the 1700 includes a fan. (Put the $50 saved on a faster M.2 NVME drive)
