Ryzen 7 2700 4 cores oc vs 8 cores oc

Will i get better temperatures if i overclock 4 cores to 3.8 ghz and other 4 cores disabled instead of running all 8 cores at 3.8 ghz.

Lol, what would you get by doing that ? You'd loose half the performance.

I know , but lets think you are playing a game which requires not more than 4 cores , then an i7 7700 will run at like 3.8 or more ghz and then if i overclock my R7 2700 to at least 3.8 ghz or more , then i will get the same performance as because higher clock speed uses the gpu more and will i get lower temps as well, than using 8 cores at 3.8 ghz that i want to know.

Are you getting high temps now ? Wouldn't it be better to get an aftermarket cooler and OC to 4GHz or higher ? I tried once to see if my 2700x would get higher clocks than usual 4.3GHz, engaged "Game mode" which is 4 cores 8 threads and didn't get anywhere. Game mode is available thru Ryzen Master.

I have good water cooler so I wasn't paying much attention to temps at that time but since I couldn't get higher OC I presume temps didn't improve much. What temps are you getting at load ?

At 100% load its like 74 degrees on stock cooler (Fan Speed is set to performance , not maximum)

Pretty sure that setting is fior only Threadripper cpu's.

No it's not, works with 1st and 2nd gen Ryzen just fine. Setting is at the bottom bar in RM,
Current - Creative - Game mode and 2 for custom presets.

Overclocking a Ryzen 7 2700 to 3.6 ghz and a an automatically running ryzen to 3.6 ghz with turbo boost have the same temperature ?
