im going to upgrade my Ryzen 5 2600 for a Ryzen 9 5900x or a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but i don't know which one, i want it for gaming and streaming and i want to know which one has better performance, my gpu is a 5600 xt.
i don't know neither if it's ok to buy a watercooler with only just 1 fan, or if ill need 2 fans for any of these cpu's

air should be fine for both make sure its got at least 6-8 heatpipes.

if your doing gaming and streaming id go with the ryzen 5900x the extra threads will help

Depends, if you need the threads, the 5900x, if you need the fastest CPU you can get on AM4, the 5800x3d.

The x3d is nice, but it wont help in all games or even in all situations, MMO's seems to benefit from it a lot, but games like Forza or even COD there isn't a huge difference. If you are streaming, the 5900x would be the better option if you use CPU encoding.

I also agree with the beyondlogic, for Air cooling 6+ heatpipe coolers, the 5900x does get a little toasty No experience with e x3d chip, I was running an Noctua NH-D15 on mine but got tired of looking at the poo brown fans on a silver cooler and didn't want to spend money on black version of it, So I got the Thermalright Phantom Spirit for $40 bucks and it's a pretty solid cooler for the price, keeps up with my old Noctua NH-D15, and its a bit smaller and has 1 extra heat pipe.

Good Luck!
