Title says it all

I am looking to upgrade my ryzen 7 2700x soon with either a 5700x or maybe a 5800x3D but I still am going to use the stock cooler from the 2700x. The TDP for the 2700x is 105 but I am aware that the 5000 series do run hotter. Will the stock cooler be enough for a 5700x or a 5800x3D?

Hey there,

Well for the 5700x which is 65w you'd imagine the stock cooler would be 'sufficient'. The 5800x 3d is also constrained a little, in that you can't OC it. So, I'd expect the stock cooler to be 'sufficient' too.

With that said, why would you want just sufficient? You are almost further artificially limiting the CPU by using a 2 gen old stock cooler for a 5xxx CPU! Just spend the $40-50 extra bucks for a decent enough...

Just spend the $40-50 extra bucks for a decent enough cooler that won't limit your choice of CPU! Do you want the cooler to constantly spinning up to 100% fans whilst gaming or whatever task you are doing? Do yourself a favour and get a Noctua U12 or D15 or something. Take the whole heat/temps thing out of the equation.
