Question Ryzen 7800X3D is running too hot ?

I just build a new gaming pc build couple of weeks ago with that includes 7800x3, Noctua NH d15 chromax black with only 1 fan in the center unfortunately ( the front fan wasn't included in the package so the store still has to send that to me ).

A couple of days ago a developer from the Cyberpunk game said that people need to test their CPU because their own CPU uses 90% in total. So i started a Cinebench test and the next thing I saw was that the CPU package(?) was 89,5 degrees and the cores themselves are between the 82,5 and the 86,5 within 90sec. After the 90 seconds I stopped the test because I was afraid that the cpu was getting too hot.

So my question is, is it normal to have such high temperatures within those 90 seconds, or do I need some other cooler, or lower my cpu clock speed?

Also, that missing fan on my cooler, how much of a difference would that realistically make?

It is somewhat normal due to the spike in load for those first 90 seconds those temps usually climb but they should eventually even out. You'll know if it is getting too hot as the system will likely crash.

that can depend on how much cool air is being fed to the cooler itself?

of course the second fan will help dissipate some more of the heat from the sink and result in lower temperatures but if there is plenty of cool air flow entering the case and actually reaching the cooler it should just end with this single fan running faster than it would need to if both were installed.

anything under 95° shouldn't harm the processor.
even that shouldn't unless it stays there for an extended amount of time.

though i would wait for the second fan and get your speed curves setup properly before bothering with the tests.

89C is the max temp per AMD.

You never listed the motherboard but make sure the BIOS is up to date some of those chips were frying before a BIOS fix.

In a recent video rendering run, my 7950X cooled by a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax black (2 fans) sat at 89C continuously for 36 hours with no let up. Admittedly the max temp for the 7950X is 95C versus 90C for the X3D range, but you don't need to panic when you see high temperatures. The CPU will start to throttle when it reaches its maximum operating temperature. The i9-13900K will run at 100C.
