This is my first pc build.
I am looking for a Ryzen 8500G system.
I am currently torn between these two boards: ASRock B650M-HDV M.2 or B650M Pro RS.

My system requirement:
- no or optional RGB-header
- no or optional WiFi
- no dedicated GPU
- 16GB (or 32GB) DDR5 memory
- 1TB SSD
- Peripherals required: power supply and fan
- Budget: as affordable as possible
- easy to setup
- Location: Canada
- Use: full stack software development. No games.
- Operating System: Linux only

What is the total system power consumption?

total budget cost?

i always recomend going a bit higher cpu with 8600g cause the performance by igpu is way better has double the igpu units for not much cost of the 8500g
the ram speed sweet spot is said to be 6400,

i went with b 650m pro rs because of the bios flash back which is important for flashing bios on motherboard as b650 chipsets need a updating to even support the g series of 8000

i went with 2 1tb drives be cause you should always have a extra drive there also fast pci gen 4.0 which is cheaper then gen 5 but

power supply is over specced because if you ever do decide to put a gpu into the system or upgrade it leaves the door open more at 650w instead of say 550 or 450w.

Thanks for your suggestion!
Because of my budget, I already picked the best affordable parts, e.g. 8500G instead of 8600G, etc. I do not plan for any upgrade for many years.
I like to find out the total system power consumption and then choose the power supply accordingly.

Both motherboards support ASRock BIOS Flashback, Auto Driver Installer - from the ASRock website:

which ever is cheaper

for additional drive recomend this heatsink

https://www.amazon.ca/Heatsink-Alum...-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

updated with power supply which will work fine 550w leaves plenty of room since system will draw around 220w honestly going to cheap with psu does more harm then good i make it good practice to have about double what im drawing because power supplys age over time they loose efficiency like batterys. and closer you are to the max wattage of a psu the more you will wear it out.

example my system draws at max 350w. im using a 650w psu. im not expecting this psu to die for another 4 years. ive had it for 3.

How to figure out the total system power consumption for my build?

You can never get a complete accurate as all pcs parts even those of same can either take more wattage or less pc parts picker gives a estimate.

184 watts add about 40 more for good measure

I wouldn't run this less on 450w ( a good PSU brand ) like seasonic /thetmaltake ( no smart thermal take PSU there garbage). Corsair
