I have the ASUS ROG Strix G17 with the 5900HX and 3070. Yes, the RGB can be turned off completely.

Probably yes for the CPU in general, but probably no for this laptop. I have the 17" version with the 5900HX/3070, and the BIOS is missing any memory settings. My CAS18 memory is running at CAS22 as a result.

I generally hate the RPG look, but it seems harmless behind the keyboard - set it to white and it's effectively just a normal keyboard backlight. In fact you could set it to a dull red and it might actually be less intrusive that white, in a dark room.

That said, I wish it just illuminated the letters and not the outline of the keys - that looks pretty distracting.

The 12GB seem to suggest that the 6800M is using the 6700 XT chip. This would be similar to the things on NVIDIA's side.
