Ryzen and motherboard choices.....

Alright,

I'm finally taking the plunge to upgrade my computer. Right now I have an 1150 based system, i5 4570, 8gb ram, and a GTX 770. This PC is coming up on it's 5th birthday, and it's feeling like I'm being left behind some (especially after getting BF1).

At first I entertained the notion of buying a used i7 4770, and a new GPU, to throw into my h87 motherboard, but finally decided to just go for a new platform.

So on to my planning for my build. My first quandary is the CPU. Right now I'm leaning toward the Ryzen 7 2700x for a couple of reasons. First, in the past I've experienced needing to upgrade after my platform had become dead (Core 2 Duo upgraded to core 2 quad at high cost to avoid platform upgrade but keep computer relevant, and now with my haswell choice being more expensive to upgrade while keeping old platform). So basically, I think that in five years down the road a 2700x will still be keeping up for my uses, where as a 2600(x) might become my bottleneck, at which point I'll run into the same problem. Secondly, it might be nice to have the extra speed if I start doing some more video editing (50/50 at this point).

However, the 2600 is around $225, 2600x is $270, 2700 is $355, and the 270x is $363 (prices are based on my rough conversion from Amazon Japan), and I mostly use my PC for playing games and surfing the web. I could save money going with a 2600, and something like one of these:
https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%B5%E3%82%A4%E3%82%BA-%E3%82%AA%E3%83%AA%E3%82%B8%E3%83%8A%E3%83%ABCPU%E3%82%AF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A9%E3%83%BC-%E8%99%8E%E5%BE%B9-Mark-II/dp/B072PWL5YF/ref=pd_sbs_147_12?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B072PWL5YF&pd_rd_r=fa0ea68f-fc74-11e8-af69-d3bf1a5221ae&pd_rd_w=n18wH&pd_rd_wg=EcXGq&pf_rd_p=cda7018a-662b-401f-9c16-bd4ec317039e&pf_rd_r=K6S5EZ4FSMNE0TENDAJ1&psc=1&refRID=K6S5EZ4FSMNE0TENDAJ1

https://www.amazon.co.jp/Cooler-Master-MasterAir-CPU%E3%82%AF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A9%E3%83%BC-MAP-T6PN-218PC-R1/dp/B076MSL6CJ/ref=pd_sbs_147_10?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B076MSL6CJ&pd_rd_r=fa0ea68f-fc74-11e8-af69-d3bf1a5221ae&pd_rd_w=n18wH&pd_rd_wg=EcXGq&pf_rd_p=cda7018a-662b-401f-9c16-bd4ec317039e&pf_rd_r=K6S5EZ4FSMNE0TENDAJ1&refRID=K6S5EZ4FSMNE0TENDAJ1&th=1

And then O/C to ~4ghz (not much for overclocking in the past though). With the 2600x, I could maybe leave as is, and in the future O/C to same mark with the stock cooler? The 2700 for price reasons is clearly out.

As for the motherboard, right now I have the MSI x470 GAMING PRO in my cart, it's cheaper than the Gaming Plus, and comes with some Assassin's Creed Odyssey (is it good?). I am also considering MSI B450 Tomahawk, and Asrock B450 Gaming K1. I'm really open to suggestions here. I need six SATA ports as of now. Two M.2 drives would be nice, but then I'd have to get rid of some SATA drives to use both anyway, but I do plan on getting a M.2 drive just so I can upgrade my SSD storage without the hassle of fitting and cabling. A nicer audio set up might be nice, but seems unlikely at this price point. I've also heard negative things about ASUS and Gigabyte boards at this range.

For memory, I want to get DDR4 3000 memory that's affordable, and is the QVL list for whatever board I get.

I just won an auction for a GTX 1070.

PSU is a Super Flower Golden King 650x (strange name, but it's a 80 plus platinum model and had great reviews) in a Antec Eleven Hundred case.

Thoughts and opinions are much appreciated, and sorry for my rambling on about this...

If you're pairing it with a GTX1070 and using it for gaming the 2600/x would be perfectly adequate but the 2700x will get you a bit further down the road assuming you upgrade your GPU in a few years time. Ryzen likes fast memory so make sure you get 3000Mhz or faster. Super Flower make good PSUs although should be Golden Green or Platinum King I think...

Look up the Crosshair VII, tons of usb ports on it. Also, look at the ROG Strix x-470-F. I read that both of these mobos are easy to OC with.

Crosshair VII with or w/o WiFi: Non-WiFi - $259.90, WiFi - $273.37

ASUS ROG Strix X470-F: Cost - $199.99

Agreed. I am getting the 2700X and was told there is a slight increase, but nothing noticeable if I do OC the CPU.

I went into this process thinking ASUS or Gigabyte, but I read a couple of bad reviews about the B450 motherboards in my bracket, and recommendations for MSI and Asrock. However, some new ones might have come out that I can't find information like the Gigabye B450 Auroa Elite (or something like that).

Thanks for the suggestions. Those boards are both considerably more money than what I'm searching for. The Gigabyte Auroa x470 board is close though, but still maybe out of reach for me.

This board is cheaper than the Tomahawk where I live (Japan), and more expensive than the B450 Gaming Plus. There is about a $8 difference between the Tomahawk and the Asrock board, the x470 Gaming Pro is about $15 more than Asrock, and the B450 Gaming Plus is cheaper by another $10 or so from the the Asrock.

Reviews for the Asrock K1 and MSI Tomahawk seem really good, but I can't find much on the other boards. Maybe not much difference between the Gaming Plus and Tomahawk. I know the x470 Gaming Pro has an extra M2, more USB slots, and comes with a free game. I don't really need the extra PCI-e slot though.

What it comes down to is what features do you want with your MOBO.... X amount of usb ports, Wi-Fi or not, et cetra.

Already got a huge boost after getting a gtx 1070. The only game that I have as of now that needs an upgrade to the CPU is BF1.... I'll still probably pull the trigger for the whole platform so I can forget about upgrading for 6-7 years hopefully.

One last query, does anyone think that the Asrock Gaming K4 or MSI Tomahawk are worth about $25-$30 more than MSI b450 Gaming plus?
