Hello, forgive my terrible questions since I know little about computers.

I'm planning on picking up a Ryzen 5 1600 but I've heard some issue about memory problems.

Do I have to buy Ryzen compatible branded RAM, or will any DDR4 ram do?

My second question is I'm looking into picking up 1 stick of 8GB 2400 DDR4 now, and then later picking up a second stick of the same model/brand for a total of 16GB when I can afford a second stick.

Would that be okay to do, picking up a second stick later and popping it in or would that cause problems?

Thanks in advance!

Vendors sell "matched sets" for a reason. They are guaranteed to work as a set. Two DIMMs of the same make and model have not guarantee from the vendor that they will work together. It is hit-or-miss. There are lots of threads on this board where people TRIED to use two "exactly the same DIMMs" and it failed.

For best stability and overclocking, you should purchase models that the motherboard manufacturer has tested -- the "qualified list" and you should purchase matched set of DIMMs.
