I've been out of the PC build game for a number of years, but after some growing issues with my previous build, I have decided to build a new system after 8 years, and I've taken the plunge with an AMD Ryzen 1500x as a base.

The system is:
AMD Ryzen 1500x
ASRock ab350 gaming it
G.skill ripjaws 4 16Gb ddr4 3000 kit
Zotac gtx1060 mini
Samsung 960 evo 250Gb nvme

I also have another traditional SATA hd, which I have disconnected for the sake of debugging.

The issue that I'm having is that the 960 evo isn't recognized by the bios or by windows 10 (via USB). According to the manual for the mb, the nvme is shared with SATA 3-3, so I made sure that I have nothing plugged into that particular port. I have also run the built-in bios update utility on the mb, but I'm still not getting anything from the Samsung drive. Can anyone see any obvious incompatibility that I'm missing or offer any advise based on similar problems.

Thanks in advance.

You will need to format the SSD first before using it. Use disk management to find the drive, right click and format. Format it as NTFS. Windows should then recognize the drive and you’ll be able to do whatever you want with it.
None of this is in the instructions included with the drive.
