[SOLVED] Ryzen9 3900x with intel ram?

Will it work? Ryzen 9 3900x, Asus X570Pro , with F4-3200C16Q-128GVK ram kit. Not on QVL. Ram kit is XMP 2.0 Ready. CL16 (timing 16-18-18-38) (Voltage 1.35 V) try it or sell the ram brand new in box?

It'll work, but maybe not as you expect. The 3000 series cpus and prior have issues using all 4 slots. It's not an 'Intel' thing, it's an AMD architecture thing that wasn't corrected inside the memory controller until the 5000 series cpus.



What'll happen is that XMP will probably fail with 4 sticks. You might get lucky and get manual settings to work, with some memory controller/ram voltage adjustments, but chances are good that the best you might get is 2933MHz manually.

That's why it's labeled 'Intel', because the chances of stock XMP working can't be guaranteed on an AMD platform of Zen, Zen+ or Zen2. Default speeds will work, xmp probably not.

And yes, gskill RipJaws V is most definitely on the QVL, just not in that particular model number, it'll be listed as a 2 stick kit like F4-3200C16D-64GVK etc

So, plug and play it should work at 2667 at least on all 4?
The XMP I dont care for.
The price was right, but I can't return it once it's open.

You'll get 128Gb and should absolutely be able to do 2666MHz manually, and with the Agesa updates and memory compatibility that brings, most likely can get 2933MHz. 3200MHz might be possible, not sure to the extent that Agesa has fixed that part of it. I've seen some ppl get 3200MHz, but they used 8Gb sticks which are single rank, your 32Gb sticks are dual rank and that makes a difference, especially with such high ram sizes.

It's a Ryzen thing, the only way you'll get faster memory speeds/fclock is using 2x sticks, but that will cut you down to 64Gb max.
