I wish to use my Win 8.1 system that has 2 Sapphire Vapor X video cards in crossfire to a Samsung 4K 40" smart tv. The display port on the video card is 1.2 (HDR Premium). I plan to order the Club 1.2 DP to HDMI adapter as recomended here. I'd like to know if I should buy 2 of these Club 1,2 DP to HDMI adapters to connect a HDMI cable to each 290 and connect each of these HDMI cables to my TV. Or, will one 290 be good enough to see 4K. I'm able to play BF4 at 1080 x 1920 on my 27" monitor using the 2 290's in Crossfire with no lag or problems.
So, if someone out there can give me some advise I'll be very thankful to you.

My system is I 4790k, Asus Pro Gammer MB 32gb Win 8.1 2 Sapphire Vapor X 290's (3 fan model) with 2- duel HDMI ports 1- 1.2 Display ports and 1- HDMI port. TV is Samsung sires six 40" 6500 UHD with HDR Premiun. Bought in 2017.

You should be able to get 4K@60 Hz as long as you buy a capable DP to HDMI adapter. One card vs two makes no difference for the supported refresh rate. As has been said, if you run them in crossfire the display outputs on the 2nd card are disabled anyway. And if you connect them both without them running in crossfire the TV will only be driven by one of them (depending on which input you select on the TV).

Having two cards in crossfire vs a single card will obviously make a difference in gaming performance though.

Thank's for Your replies. They are very helpful. However, I'm trying to understand how the 290's will function with my 4K TV. Will I get the full 4K resolution at 60hZ with 1- 290 or will I just get 4K at 30HZ. That's why I'd like to know if the 290's in Crossfire mode will deliver full 4K at 60hz. I don't think I play or have any 4K games at the moment. But I do have some Blue Ray DVD's that I'd like to watch in 4k. Or. should I Get a better or newer 4K TV and replace the 290's with ? I'm open for some suggestions.

I just found this little bit of info about my 290's
------------------------------------------------------------
2560x1600
Our sample has a pair of dual DL-DVI connectors, an HDMI 1.4a port and a DisplayPort 1.2 socket. The R9 290 supports a max resolution of 2560x1600 on up to three monitors as well as Ultra HD (also known as UHD or 4K) over both HDMI 1.4b (low refresh) and DisplayPort 1.2.Nov 5, 2013
-------------------------------------------------------------
Does the 2560x1600 mean that that is the max resolution I'll ever be able to get?
If I installed a Thunderbolt 3 PCIE card would that improve anything?

The link you provided me claims the following:

HDMI
1 (version 1.4a)
Max Resolution: 3840x2160 @30 Hz
4096x2160 @24 Hz

Display Port
1 (version 1.2)
Max Resolution: 4096x2160 @ 50 Hz

I still don't understand how I will get 60HZ.

Followup for this topic.
Yesterday I recieved my 1.2 HDR Displayport to HDMI addapter for my $0" Samsung 40" 4k UHD TV.
After I put the TV stand and connectiog it to a Displayport on one of my 290's I looks like I'm getting a resolution of 3840x2160. I can't seem to find out just what frequency is. However, my desktop looks beautiful. and my 3dpool game plays without any signs of sluggishness. Nazi Zombie Elite plays ok but i do detect a bit of lag. However, I'm happy just getting it to work.
Thank's Again for all the help.
