so yesterday suddenly crystaldiskmark started to say that there where uncorectable sectors first it was 35 then a half hour later it suddenly went up to 89 . but then a few hours later theywhere all gone.
does anyone know what this means.
also it still says it has154 current pending sectors and 4 realocated sectors. how long has that drive left to live?
it is an 2 TB hitachi touro desk

Hi again, YuiH969!

The Reallocated Sector Count indicates that you have 4 bad sectors on your HDD.
The Current Pending Sector Count is a pre-failure metric, meaning it indicates the number of unstable sectors waiting to be remapped as bad ones. Backup the data from the hard drive ASAP! These parameters are critical and may indicate drive failure. 🙁
I'd suggest to check in with your HDD manufacturer's tech support and let them know about this issue. If your drive is still within the warranty period, you should RMA it and get a replacement product.

Let me know if you have more questions!
Hope I was helpful! Good luck!

Hey there, YuiH969!

It would be much clearer if you upload a screenshot of the utility.
I'd suggest to run a malware/virus scan on the drive and see if anything comes up.
Another good idea would be to backup all the data from the drive on another storage device and re-format it.
Maybe a fresh restart is what the HDD needs, especially if it is a malware problem.
You can reformat it using Disk Management or a diagnostics utility that has the feature of writing zeros (low-level format). The latter would fully erase everything on the drive to the point of no return (which should remove the malware, if there is such).
Here is a link about low-level formatting: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=FRtTpt

First, can you share the screenshot though?
