S.M.A.R.T. for ssd and hdd on X79

It seems that x79 does not support S.M.A.R.T. for hdd and ssd? Even with smart enabled in bios, all the softwares that could read smart on z68 can't do it on x79.

I have read of other users with similar issue. Is this a board specific issue or x79 chipset issue?

Can u run HD Tune to see if it works on your HW.

Check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.)

The ASUS X79's come with S.M.A.R.T. and by default it's Enabled. So just to check either read you manual and if necessary Enable it <or> verify it's an included feature in yout BIOS.

I have a asrock extreme9. It seems that I am unable to read my hdd and ssd smart data even with smart enabled in bios. I have read similar complaints on other x79 board. Is this a x79 issue? Any work around?
