Hey guys,
I have an issue with a laptop i'm trying to fix. I get the S.M.A.R.T error when trying to boot because the hdd appears to be faulty. I press f1 and it won't boot. So apperently the hdd is dead/about to die.
I want to plug the hdd on my computer to see if i can retrieve some of the data. However, I have never tried to retrieve data from a hdd which has windows on it. How does it work? Are there specific programs to deal with that or will i simply see the disk on my computer and be able to dive in it (if is still works).

I know there are a lot of post about faulty hdd but i couldn't find one explaining how to retrieve data from a windows partition using another computer.

thank you guys in advance

Solution
If the drive is functional you can install in another windows PC and read the disc. No additional software needed. Give it a shot and pust again if help is needed.
