i currently have 1gb ddr2 pc5300 X2
and i want to upgrade it to 3gb my mobo supports up to 4 slots
i know that vista home pre 32bit handles p to 3.3gb ram
im deciding between 1stick of 1gb and 2 sticks of 512mb to make up 1gb
i heard that more sticks are faster. (dont know its true)
so should i go with quad channel??

id just get another 2x1gb DDR800/1066, extra probs come in handy at some point, DDR3 a way off so at least ya'll have some faster memory hanging around...

you mean dual-channel - 4 DIMMS in 2 pairs. But yes - dual channel always.

im not thinking to get faster memory.. i have 4 dimms and 2 are already fit with 1gb each and i mean i want to put 2 512mb so all dimms are fit.. or one 1gb ram so only 3 dimms are fited
dont know which one is faster

meh you dont neccesarily need ddr2800 or greater, if your other ones are are ddr2 667 depending on your current hardware, you might as well just stay with the same speed, also try and find some with as close to or even the same timings, but yes go with 4 sticks total, not 3; when you upgrade your whole comp just get new ram, its not that expensive and will be cheaper by the time you upgrade again
