I started playing through Stalker SOC again because, with the new compy I have, I should be able to play it on all max settings. (I am playing in 1920x1080) The specs are:
Geforce GTX 560ti
i5 2400
G.Skill Ripjaws 4gb ram (2x 2gb)
Corsair GS700 psu
(I think that will be all of the info you need on the hardware, if not, let me know :3)
The freezing seems to only happen when I am approaching an area that has scripted NPC's (Mutants, small groups of bandits, Military, etc) and it only takes about 3-7 seconds to actually have it all over with, but it is very, VERY annoying (Especially, for those who have played it before, whenever I enter the bar, it takes me 3-4 tries to get past all of those dogs that chase you, due to all of the freezing, I can't sprint properly) and it never happened on my old system, which was just...really bad by comparison, it was
Radeon HD 4650
Pentium E5700 3ghz dual core
4gb ram
some 300 watt power supply (It was an office compy, I just added a better GPU :3)
If you think you can figure out what I can change, please let me know ♥
(Something that you may need to know, I turned off prefetching on my old compy since it literally would crash the game it took so long, and the loading screens on my old compy were 2-5 minutes, while on my new one they never exceed 30-45 seconds)

SoC needs to be patched to 1.4 at the very least. but dont just bang in 1.4 use all the patched http://stalker.filefront.com/ up to it, also get the stakler complete mod which will also fix a lot of the glitches and bugs...
it does change the game some but not so much you cant get the stalker feel.
if anything i prefer using this mod as it balances out a lot of the things that made the original game a little frustrating... add to that the mod adds visuals that are only present in the 2 later games.
such as sunbeams and other higher end visuals...

I am using stalker complete, and I am playing on steam, so I would think it is fully patched.

So I'm thinking it may be a heating problem with my graphics card that is causing the sudden stops in the game? Maybe it's something I should un/reinstall the game in an attempt to fix? Idk, I really just want to be able to play this game with no lag pretty soon, so I'm open to alot of suggestions, if people don't mind XD

I've done all of this, and my card doesn't seem to be overheating....So I dunno what to do anymore XD

Oh well, I guess I will just have to deal with the freezing I guess :\, thanks anyway.

as you have the best mods for the game make sure its installed on the outside of the disk and not fragmented on the inner portion. an app like ultimate defrag is perfect for this as it will allow you to put files exactly where you want em...
your freezeing issue... is sounding like a hardware compatability issue... try loading a different shader set from the mod site. or if you cant find em go into the shaders folder and find the r2 shaders open it and turn on
the debug settings, the float settings just by removing the # or the ;... this may help you diagnose the issue better.
you may want to open the console too while playing to see if a lot of files are either loading or failing...

even though the game was patched its still unstable on some configs. yours may just be 1 of them... i know when i had my nvidia 88gt i had the same issue in certain parts of the map but the ati card i currently have is flawless with this game...
