I know, why go from a Gigabyte S3 to a DS3? It's a long story......

In any case, if I were to do it, would I still need to do a hard drive format? I thought the 2 boards were the same except for the capacitors.........which would mean no format?

Anyone know? Much thanks.

You never need to reformat a hard drive when doing motherboard upgrade. I repeat never! It wont hurt and you will know the drive is clean but totally unnecessary.

It it wise to reinstall or clean install the OS. While this is the easiest approach it rarely needed if you know what you're doing. Its not really the best approach for performance though.

I can give you a big NO to that. As I have already changed from a DS3 to an S3 (a long story  ) . But you will need to uninstall the lan drivers and reinstall the correct one from the CD(or internet). Other than that, everything remains the same.
