Sabertooth x58 quad + dual channel ram issue ( 4+2) 2gbx6

Hello guys, i have 6x2gb ddr3 ram
My problem 4 kit any serial number quad kit + 2 any serial number dual kit memory. System max 8gb memory see.
Please 6 channel configuration help me
Mobo: sabertooth x58
Cpu: i7 980x
Memory: 4x ddr3 1600mhz corsair dominator + 2x ddr3 1600mhz corsair dominator.

Well mixing memory doesn't always work.

You've not been very detailed in your hardware description. I don't know what "any serial number" means.

My guess is you have a 4 stick kit and a 2 stick kit and you are attempting to mix them to have triple channel memory. x58 doesn't support six channel memory, that is a very recent thing from Intel. It does support triple channel.

Would need the very specific memory in question to say what might be wrong. CPU-Z should get the model number for each stick.

Typical problem would be a mixing of 1.5 and 1.65 volt memory. Early 1600Mhz DDR3 memory was a high overclock and required 1.65 volts. Later DDR3 1600 was adopted as the JEDEC supported standard towards the end of DDR3. (It was released with DDR3 1066 and 1333 being the common speeds)

are all the ram one sidded or two. you cant mix one and two sidded ram. also make sure your mb has the newest bios file.

Fixed my problem.
1- W10 home upgrade to w10 pro
2- cpu eject, clean and sit down
I have not problemi, pc see 12gb ram okey

Your other post is still there to use. Kind of just left Smorizio's question hanging.

He is right, you do need to have all dual ranked or all single ranked memory, typically. (Memory with chips on one or both sides usually) Unless you have chips which are larger.

You've got the model numbers, just a matter of going to Corsair's website and checking the specifications.

To get triple channel working properly you would need 3 dual ranked matching chips or 6 single ranked matching chips.

Other more silly arrangements typically only work with dual and quad channel setups where you can mix single and dual ranks. IE two single rank chips opposite a single dual rank chip can work in some configurations. With triple channel you should be able to get a mix by using 3 single ranks and then 3 double ranks. I don't think you will achieve triple channel properly without at least sets of three.

The motherboard manual should have a chart of acceptable memory configs. At least I recall my old ASUS Rampage III Formula had a table.

That is also a possibility. After years of running mine at 1.65 volts I'm pretty sure something popped. Won't recognize more than 8GB of memory, though all sticks are functional (even with less voltage)

But I haven't messed with it in a while. I probably just need to get new memory for that system.

The 990X that did this.....I bought it from EBay. I had an i7-920 that worked just fine in the board. I returned the 990X and bought an i7-980 and that's what's in there now.

....and I'm not saying this is your problem....I just wanted you to be aware.

You have six memory sticks, yes? Two different types?

Which ones are plugged in where?

I don't think we've quite gotten through the single rank/dual rank question either. Or the voltages for that matter.

Is the test you just did taking three of the identical sticks and putting them in A1-B1-C1? If so, you may have a bad slot.

It was probably reseating the CPU that fixed it not installing windows 10 upgrade to windows pro had nothing to do with it or else you had to clean install windows and that was your problems
