Sabertooth x79 not powering on

I'm fairly new to the pc building and I am trying to build with a Sabertooth x79 mobo. I have 2 sticks of Corsair vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 ram and when I plug the board into the power supply and try to power the board up, all I get is the green standby light. Granted I haven't plugged in the CPU or a video card, but shouldn't I get some other lights coming on or the on board fan spinning if its turning on properly? I must be missing something basic. The two power cables are plugged in properly.

sir try powering the board AFTER you have installed the cpu, video card, ram in your case with hard drives attached

I'm picking up a 3820 i7 later tonight and I'll plug in a GTX 570 and I'll let you know what happens.
