im having a problem, the red cpu light is on and it wont show anything on the screen, i have most certainly hooked everything up properly, i have no bent pins at all.

i have tryed the single ram test and i have take out the cmos battery for 15 minutes, all im thinking is that the sabertooth is out of date from the cpu with the bios, is it possible i need to update my bios for the cpu, can anyone help please.

I had a problem "almost" identical to yours however my mobo was a Asus Z87-Deluxe where I was attempting to upgrade from a i7-4770k to a i7-4790k. After numerous swapping of processors no amount of swapping would enable me to post with the i7-4790k simply because the AsusZ-87 Deluxe mobo would have a bright red cpu led prominently lit up. Turns out even though I had the latest 2103 bios firmware flashed I used Asus's EZ Flash2 utility which I was informed by Asus support doesn't perform a complete flash update. I doubted this however I followed their recommendation to re-flash this time using either the Asus Flashback or Asus BIOS Updater (ugh!) utility. I re-flashed using FlashBack and holy cow, the i7-4790k posted successfully. Been running cleanly for over a week mildly overclocked to 4.5GHz with a 15 year old Zalman 9900 heatsink/fan cpu cooler since.

You didn't mention if you have most current bios or how you flashed but this is something to be aware of. During my debacle I found out my Newegg refurbished Corsair H100i water cooler will NOT fit in my HAF 912 mid tower case which was why the Zalman was put back into service. I still want to o/c higher but I'm only getting 4.5GHz by using a 125 Bclock with 36x multiplier..VCore presently at 1.31Voltage according to CPUZ. Let me know how your upgrade proceeds and it this was helpful

i have not flashed at all and i don't know my bios because this is the first time turning it on. i finished it today after making sure everything was all good because i went over a tutorial. i need to learn how this "flashing" will work and help me. also i need to know how to tell the most current bios.

also this is my computer.

BrainDeadHappy...Right now you are dead in the water. Since you cannot even get into the bios or post therefore you must flash to the most current Asus bios level. You didn't mention if you have a alternate pc in which to research/download from the Asus web site. If you do, access Asus web site drilling down to your selected motherboard then download the most current bios firmware for your o/s along with utilities and instructions. Unzip the bios file, rename to appropriate formatted fat32 flash drive then Flashback using the appropriate usb port and flashback button on the backside of your mobo. From there try booting up into your bios and away you go. Your Sabertooth mobo should support Asus Flashback which is the easiet and most cleanest way to update your mobo.

thank you very much i will try this.
i do indeed have a laptop to do this all on.

so can you right me a list in steps to do this.

i just cant find anything online on how to do the flashback in post.

I also have problems with Sabertooth Z87 and i7-4790K. I am using BIOS 2103. Everything works fine except for the software boot which dosen't work from the BIOS and not from the OS, cpu led gets red and nothing happens -- hard reset works fine.
If I swap to a i7-4770K then everything works fine!
Did you solve your problem? Does the software boot work?
