I must admit to have looked longingly at the list of places that are
doing the Curse of Maraqua promotion, even more so because there is one
in Oakland where my brother lives!

<wonders how much the plane fare is to San Francisco nowadays. 🙂>

But what can they do realistically and I am sure people who live in all
non-US countries feel the same.

I was just watching a bit on the news a few days ago, the air wars have
started up again, and air travel is unbelievably cheep..

I completely understand how you feel, and as Les stated, doing an
around-the-world in store promotion seems to be impossible. When Eric Clapton
performs at RAH every year, it kills me that I cannot be there. In other words,
there will always be something going on somewhere that we want to attend but
cannot. Come on over. Show me the 'proper' way to make tea!!!

Being in Nebraska is practically like being outside the US, even though
we're right in the middle.

What is a Kiss Me Quick hat?

The local UK shop sells all kinds of things. Tea, spices, souvenir stuff
(pillows, blankets, etc with the flag motif) Candy, clothes, some toys,
although a doll recently got yanked because of the negative publicity.
(Golliwog.) Some canned goods. Basically anything the owner thinks will
remind people of England. Some of it is good stuff, some little better than
junk.

This is a traditional tacky seaside town sovvenir (Blackpool, Brighton
etc) and it is a hat on which "kiss me qvick" is written.

Goes with the sticks of rock, bags of chips and jellied eels, piers and
donkey rides, and it is jvst something I have always taken for granted
(I have lived most of my life in one of the afore mentioned tacky
seaside towns) bvt have no idea what the history is. 🙂
