Hello,

So I've got a 970 (Gigabyte Windforce OC) and an i7-4790 @ 3.6 Ghz with a 600W PSU. I'm not sure If I can overclock my GPU given my mobo lacks overclocking capabilities. I just want to know some safe voltage levels, maximum (but safe) core and memory clocks. Preferebly but not essential from people with similar builds. This is my first time overclocking so forgive my ignorance 😛

Thanks for the help!

Your i7 is locked so don't expect to oc that, although I've heard of people managing to get a tiny bit more out of it (you should've gotten the 4790k) there should be an overclocking guideline online for your motherboard presuming it's a z series also, look in your graphics card software (may need to be downloaded online)

I have the same Gigabyte GPU. But, I have an Intel i7-5820K. All the overclocking guides I've seen are confusing. I tried to use the one I found on Tom's Hardware called Safe GPU Overclocking Guide 2015 R1.3. But, I got as far as step 5. Then I was completely lost. Is there a guide for people that have never attempted to overclock that is simple to use? Thanks for any discussion or suggestions!
