Just put together new system:
E8400 @ 3.4
Bus Speed 400
Multiplier 8.5
Rated FSB 1600
DDR2800 @ 400
4-4-4-12-2T @ 1:1
Motherboard IP35ProXE
I know nothing about overclocking but took a stab??
Core Voltage 1.210V
Memory Voltage 2.1V

Are these settings safe for system?
Thanks for the help

Thanks for getting back to me. I just guessed at the settings.
Let's say I wanted to try 3.6mhz. Would I just bump the multiplier to 9.0? I'm assuming the memory may change to 5-5-5-18?
What is a good source of OCing documentation?
Thanks again, caniba

Just my 2 peneth,

It's not the speed that kills the hardware... it's the voltage.

Check on your hardware manufacturers websites for the correct voltages and stick to them...

That is unless you get yourself some very good cooling.

I use water myself but i still stay pretty close (ish) to the recommended volts.

Changing the multiplier is the easiest way to o/c your system but always remember your temps and your voltage. I cannot stress this enough to you,as i learned the hard way.

If you have air cooling make sure it's the best you can afford, but for a few extra quid i'd go liquid.

They both have there pros and cons but you will have to look into it before you decide.

But if you want to do any serious o/c then you have to get liquid.IMO

Nuff said, still gutted when i think what i did to my first setup.
