[SOLVED] Safe temperatures for ECC/REG DDR3-1600?

I bought some ECC/REG DDR3 for my mini-server (heavily modified Optiplex 7010). The DIMMs are currently at 52c and 60c after about 20 minutes. They do not have heat spreaders. They are Samsung M393B2G70BH0-YK0 and M393B2G70BH0-CK0. The CK0 runs cooler than the YK0.

The last time I messed with server RAM like this was with my old Dell Precision 690 and the RAM needed active cooling, but I know that DDR2 ECC/REG gets HOT!

I tried searching but my Google-Fu only returned a post on the LTT forum saying between 30c-80c. But I'd be stupid to trust the word of a single forum post.

Anyone else have insight? My RAM is not actively cooled, but I can make some myself and I also have some spreaders from some older Corsair Vengeance I pulled off.

Heatspreaders haven't really been necessary on DDR3 for a while. Only the first few generations that were heavily overclocked and ran at 1.65 volts rather than 1.5. Each successive generation has gotten more power efficient. And this particular DDR3 only takes 1.35 volts which puts it well into the more recent process nodes.

52C and 60C are perfectly acceptable for memory temperatures (or practically any electronics) A nearby fan (down draft CPU cooler, or rear case fan) should be enough to keep memory cool. No need to even add heatspreaders.

The old RAM was 2x8gb of Corsair Vengeance with red and black spreaders, and my server has a red and black theme, so I lose some style points.

Currently using the Dynatron R24 with a modified mounting bracket since my mobo is too small for a narrow ILM cooler.

Used to have the Dynatron R18 set up for downdraft but with the R24 it's not necessary.
