Some say 88c, although i think they got confused with 88w, for tdp. Others say under 90, some say under 75c. what is the actual safe temps, while running ibt i hit 82c on hottest core, is this safe?
before any one asks, yes its overclocked, 4.2 ghz at 1.25

Solution

You don't even have to start worrying about that, Your chip will last for a very long time at those temperatures.
The higher the temp, the more and faster it damages the CPU gradually.

There is no real safe or unsafe, you basically just gradually increase entropy the longer and hotter it is.

Tcore max is 100°C, under heavy load you should not get over 80-85°C for longer times. Best would be a maximum of 70°C under heavy load, otherwise your CPU will probably lose a couple of semesters of life span.

thank you, my gaming temps are only around 55- 70c depending on the game, at say, 75c 24/7 how long would you expect it to last, at least a couple of years?

I have never seen a CPU getting damaged or destroyed from too high temperature (except in a fire). Even when running at throttling temperature (100C) often, it would take probably a decade for it to take damage.
The much bigger problem is, the hotter it gets the higher the power draw. I have seen differences of up to 40W.
The bottom line is that 80C is ok. Even a bit above that. And ever since Intel uses cheap thermal grease between die and heatspreader, its not uncommon for people to reach that temperature with a boxed cooler or when overclocked with a better cooler.
