Greeting everybody..,

as said in the title, i am planning to move my gaming rig to another city miles away and planning to take it with me on the plane as a check-in luggage.

To avoid any concussion damage to inner content, i was thinking to fill the case with newspaper, loads of newspaper actually, to keep everything stuck in its place until i arrive.

I have a GTX 1080Ti Hybrid, i7 7700K and a cooler master evo 212 Turbo, thats pretty much all i am worried about.

Do you think this idea will work ? the newspaper wont create any kind of static that might harm the motherboard, right ?

notice that, i can "barely" remove the gpu but can never remove the heatsink, i am not really good with installing stuff and finiding tech. where i am going will be a real issue.

looking forward to hear from you all, thank you in advance.

Mostly, that would be ok, however, when moving your system further than from one room to the next, it's a very bad idea to leave the CPU cooler or graphics card installed ESPECIALLY if you're traveling by plane.

The fulcrum point stress created against the base of the CPU cooler can damage CPUs and motherboards from bumps, jolts or drops and heavy graphics cards can have a tendency to break the PCB material or PCIe slot if both the card and slot are not reinforced. It is always best to remove and reinstall those two items before and after any move that might even remotely include the possibility of jarring impacts of any kind. Being tossed into the check in luggage cart, cargo bay and baggage carousel definitely qualify.

Remove those, wrap them separately, stuff newspaper or air packing material like what comes in the boxes from Amazon, around your case inside the box you put it in, and that should be safe enough.

I see about 20 people a week posting here that DIDN'T do that, and have something that fails because it got stressed in transit.
