Hello,

I have just installed a new copy of Windows 7 on my home built PC.
I face one little problem. The safely remove hardware icon doesn't show up in the task bar when I plug in a USB-storage device.
Of course the icon is set to "show always".

I can open the Safely Remove Hardware menu by typing the following line in RUN "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll"
Strange enough the window shows no removable devices when i have plugged in my USB-drive. (I guess this is why the icon isn't showing up in the taskbar either)
However the USB-drive is recognized and I can access it through My PC as normal.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

I just solved the problem myself. Only the two USB 2.0 ports at the front of the case were not working properly as described above. I connected the cable of those ports to another USB header on the motherboard and now these 2 ports also work fine! The safely remove hardware icon shows up when I connect my USB stick just as it does with al the other USB ports :)
