Hello

I need to really stress test my GPU as I'm concerned it might be the cause of some problems and need some advice please.

See my sig for specs, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit, all up to date etc.


I need to know what is the best software to use and which tests to run on them - BUT - I need to know if any particular software and or tests could be 'Risky/Dangerous' if they have potential to push the GPU to far and cause Damage.

I may have to send it back and I don't want them saying I damaged it and refuse a replacement etc.

So please note for each software/test if it's totally safe or potentially 'Risky/Dangerous' etc.


Also what are the normal temps for 'stress testing', normal desktop use and Gaming use for a new Gigabyte 3070 Ti 8GB Gaming OC -
What is the temp where I should stop a test.

Can you set the tests to auto shut down if you reach a specific temp that you set to prevent Damage??


Also how long should these tests take? I need to know if it'll be like 5 hours etc so I can choose when to do it?

All stress tests ARE inherently risky as they may bring to the fore weaknesses and defects in the component being tested.

There is absolutely no way for them to know what you ran and/or how long you ran...

IMO, unlike with cpus, the ideal stress tests for gpus are the very games you play, and not a bunch of synthetic benchmarks.

After that, it's probably tied with 3D Mark Timespy and Unigine Superposition(custom settings on screen resolution and high on others), but the former only does 1 lap on the free version.

What is the temp where I should stop a test.
Test till GPU core gets to 80C or junction/hotspot gets to 95C. Those are safely below the card's max temps.

Some paid softwares may allow you to stop at a target temp but best to just watch it yourself.

Run HWiNFO64 (sensors only) in the background to verify max temps.
Start off with Unigine's Valley benchmark. It's older so it shouldn't stress the card that much. Let it loop a few times and then exit out and report back here all your max GPU temps. Also make sure you weren't getting any artifacts while it was running. Since Unigine Valley is older it may not report the proper temps which is why we have HWiNFO64 running.

Also note that, if you are experiencing something specific that makes you think the card might be bad, it may not be the card at all. Your CPU, RAM, and even drives can cause issues that can look like GPU issues.
