Safety of Overclocking GF2 MX-400?

Just wondering how "safe" it is to overclock my card, and if doing it will be of any noticeable benefit.

I have an ASUS v7100PRO mx-400 64MB card running nvidia detonator XP drivers.

I have a utility that came bundled with the card which is called "ASUS Tweak Utility" ... In this utility under the "Graphics Speed" heading there are 2 sliders that can be changed to modify the speed. The 2 sliders are called "Engine" and "Memory". They are currently BOTH set to 200MHz. I'm wondering if there is a "safe" level to increase these to, or if I should just leave well enough be?

THe card has a cooling fan installed on it if that is important information. A photo of the card can be viewed here:

I OC'ed my V7100 MX to 220/205 MHz (GPU/RAM).
Just raise the the speed a couple of MHz and see if it is stable, if it is then you raise it even more, if it is not then lower it to your previous setting.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground 😱 .

What temps are you getting at those settings?

I've got mine overclocked to 250/235 and my card is running at a toasty 60deg C, but it seems to be stable. What do you think? Is this too much?

I don't have an internal sensor, but I placed a sensor from my DigiDoc on the heatsink and the temp is 31.5 C, I use the standard heatsink with a P75 cooler on it.

WOW! Why don't you push it a little more then? Crankr' up man! You'd probably get to 240/220 or something.

I can't overclock the memory any further without getting weird display errors. But I will OC the GPU some more.

Yes, I have 2 Thermaltake RAMsink on the 4 RAM chips.
BTW My card is now running at 240/205, but I haven't tried if it works with games

On my gainward I'm using no ramsinks and the stock HSF on the GPU.

Hm, it's quite hard to get anything from Thermaltake here in Croatia, i think I'll just have to do something DIY style. Anyway, it works fine at 220/190 with only an old P200 cooler attached to the GPU...

You can cut an old heatsink into smaller pieces.
