salvage an LCD controller?

Hello people of toms hardware!
I have an old laptop LCD, and I want to use it as a monitor. (turning my Intuous into a Cintiq )

Is it possible to use an LCD controller salvaged from a monitor, on my laptop lcd?
Do they use the same connectors?

Hi, I do not think they use the same type of screen in a monitor and a laptop. But just for an experiment, what is the number for the screen of the laptop and from where the monitor controller comes?

The LCD screen is from a Gateway MT6840.

I don't have the monitor to salvage from yet.
I'm planning on getting one at a thrift store for like $4 rather than buying the controller for $30.

the monitor has to have a 30pin connector & your laptop screen has ccfl in it. http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Gateway/MT6840/
