same fps or lower in 1080p in cpu heavy games

In a few of my games with my i7 8700k and gtx 1080 ti i get no fps gain when lowering resolution to 1080p from 1440p. when i lower the resolution the gpu usage gets cut nearly in half and i gain no fps. usually it could be a bottleneck but i think that would be strange since im running an 8700k.

All of my hardware is at default speeds except my memory which is at 3200mhz though the xmp profile, vsync is off, power management is set to maximum performance in windows and nvidia panel. I have found nothing online in hours of searching that would fix or resemble the issue im having.

What kind of performance are you getting? Make sure you dont have a fps limit enabled somewhere.

so lets use gta and battlefield 1 for example. in gta with my settings currently i get around 115 fps in 1440p and in 1080p its around the same sometimes even less when the gpu usage dips lower, in battlefield its the same story, around 130-140 fps in ultra 1440p and it stays around the same in 1080p.

so it's like when i go down to 1080p resolution somethings is telling my 1080 ti to run at half performance. my cpu usage in gta never goes over 50% and in battlefield 1 it will reach 80% but never maxed so that's the wrench in the gears right now.

In gta 5 , everything at ultra , all advanced graphics in ultra , I'm no where near 100fps . Only around 60 to 80fps . Ac origins ultra 80fps avg . Pubg everything ultra 90fps avg . So I would say your PC us just running fine

but do you gain fps from lowering resolution ? thats the problem here. i get these frame rates because i lower certain settings.

Do a bios reset in mobo and reinstall windows and intall the drivers and check again
