Samson Meteor Button Fell Off

I need help as the mute button and the "sound" adjustment ring fell off and I put it back on but I'm wondering if it's normal or if there's a problem w/ my model...it's brand new so I'm worried if I'm not getting what I'm supposed to...on a side not I'm not noticing any difference when I turn the sound knob...

Why so? (Sorry for the questions I just don't want to go to a fairly far place and look like an idiot when I say that it falls of when it's normal...just making sure )
