I just did a secure erase on my 840 pro using windows solution, should I use bootable usb drive or bootable cd/dvd instead?

Second, should you use bootable usb drive or bootable cd/dvd for what? Installing windows? I don't get your question, which probably doesn't help why no one has replied in less than an hour.

It makes no difference, always the same commands.

How do I know my SSD is working? My PC doesn't seem all that fast like I imagined.

Did you use Samsung's SSD magician to secure erase it? That's what I use, but I do have a spare PC to use it to secure erase it.
